Student Opportunity Awards

Student Foundation allocates Student Opportunity Awards (SOAs) to K-State students. There are two types of awards, K-State Hero Awards and K-State Proud Awards. All SOA funds are raised through the K-State Proud student campaign.

K-State Hero Award

K-State Hero Awards provide recognition for K-State students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and dedication to improving the K-State community through campus leadership, community service or other areas of campus life. Five awards of $500 are allocated each semester. Deadlines are in November and April, with online applications available one month before the due date.

K-State Proud Award

K-State Proud Awards are allocated by a student allocations committee in consultation with the Office of Student Financial Assistance to provide financial assistance for students who have demonstrated extreme financial need or those who need temporary financial assistance. Special consideration will be given to students whose future at K-State may be in jeopardy and to students who have exhausted all other forms of financial assistance. Students and faculty members are encouraged to nominate students in need, or students may nominate themselves. Applications are received online on a continuing basis, and awards are allocated year round.
